This Pro-Parks project has been under development for several years. Plans were once underway for a plaza covering most of the site. In April 2004, Parks advertised for construction bids. Bids for the original design came in higher than the budget, making the original design impossible to build. At that point, the community initiated efforts to turn the park into a dog off-leash area. In July 2005, the park was re-named Plymouth Pillars Park.
The off-leash area is roughly 9,800 square feet, with a long, narrow design with a fantastic scenic view of downtown! The surface is crushed rock, and there is a unique human/dog drinking fountain inside the park.
